If you're reading this, it means you've received the first edition of the Hall Monitor, the new digital newsletter of the Bass Fishing Hall of Fame. In this and future editions, we will keep you updated on events and efforts aimed at furthering the Hall's mission to celebrate, preserve and promote the sport of bass fishing.

Since we established a permanent home for the Hall in 2017 within Johnny Morris’ Wonders of Wildlife Museum & Aquarium, the Hall's Board of Directors has expanded its efforts beyond honoring new inductees each year. While inducting each new Hall of Fame class continues to be a cornerstone of our mission, we’re doing much more than that, and this quarterly newsletter will allow us to keep all of you informed about our activities and achievements.

Read on to learn more, and reach out to us if you want to be involved.

Getting the Call

Congratulations are in order for the three members of the Hall of Fame Class of 2021 – Gene Gilliland, Jason Lucas and Trip Weldon. Gilliland is known for his extensive work in fisheries management and bass conservation efforts; Lucas is considered one of the modern era’s ‘fathers of bass fishing’ for his writing in Sports Afield; and Weldon set the standard for tournament directors during his nearly 20 years presiding over B.A.S.S. events.

The Class of 2021 will be honored at our annual dinner on Sept. 30. READ MORE

More the Merrier

With 2020 now behind us we do not in any way want to forget about the five members of the 2020 induction class. The COVID-19 pandemic forced the cancellation of our annual dinner last fall, but at this year’s induction ceremony, we’ll celebrate and recognize the Class of 2020, which consists of Steve Bowman, Bryan Kerchal, James Heddon, Ron Lindner and Jay Yelas. Giving Back

After awarding $15,000 to support conservation projects in 2020, the Bass Fishing HOF Board of Directors is again reaching out to bass fishing clubs and high school/college teams to provide financial assistance for a select number of fishery enhancement efforts planned for 2021. Last year, the HOF lent its support to four projects focused on a range of issues, including habitat enhancement, stocking programs and invasive species management. READ MORE ...

Historical Connection

Earlier this spring, the Bass Fishing Hall of Fame partnered with noted bass fishing historian and writer Terry Battisti, the creator of the Bass Fishing Archives to publicize, enhance and build upon BFA’s existing trove of historical data, interviews and recollections. The BFA website provides one of the most detailed and comprehensive looks back at bass fishing’s history of any outlet on the web. READ MORE ...

Outpouring of Support

The Bass Fishing Hall of Fame has been designated as a beneficiary of two recent initiatives in the industry. Plano, in conjunction with BFHOF inductee Kevin VanDam, pledged its support for the "College of Bass" Facebook Live series co-hosted by Steve Pennaz. Viewers were offered a unique College of Bass YETI Rambler mug with all proceeds directed to the BFHOF operations and conservation effort. Many thanks to Chris Russell and the folks at Plano for celebrating the sport with us.

Additionally, Costa recently launched its Compete & Conserve contingency program for tournament anglers and has designated the BFHOF as one of the organizations that will receive financial support for future conservation grants. Bassmaster Elite Series angler Jeff Gustafson kicked things off with the first $500 contribution.

Get Involved

Interested in supporting the BFHOF mission? Becoming a supporting member of the BFHOF provides you two key benefits – you help the Board in continuing its mission, and you also receive the coveted opportunity to nominate worthy individuals for future BFHOF induction. Plus, all those making a contribution will receive one of the Hall’s commemorative coins honoring our 2020 inductees (2021 coins will be available soon).
