2011 Hall of Fame Inductees

 

A former fisheries biologist from Oklahoma, who turned his scientific knowledge of bass behavior into a long and successful career as a touring pro and spokesman for fishing industry manufactures.  


Mr. Cook won the first B.A.S.S. event he ever fished, the 1980 BASS Federation Championship.  During his career, Mr. Cook won six B.A.S.S. Tournaments, qualified for 14 Bassmaster Classics, winning the 1991 Classic on the Chesapeake Bay, captured the 1983 Super B.A.S.S. title, and was the 1980 American Angler Grand American Champion was the 1985 U.S. Bass World Champion.

Mr. Eaker has proven that bass fishing is a sport for all ages.  Recently retired from the BASS Elite Tour, this gentleman, who began his tournament career in 1975, had competed successfully on various tournament trails up-to his retirement.  


Over the years Mr. Eaker qualified for 10 Bassmaster Classics, and won one B.A.S.S. Tournament and placed in the Top 10 a total of 27 times.  Along the way, this inductee won the 1977 BASS Angler of the Year title, as well as the 1980 Hungry Fisherman Angler of the Year. 

In addition, he coauthored the book, “Catching Bass Like A Pro”, with fellow inductee Steve Price.

A lifelong writer of fishing stories, dating back to his high school days where he won the Quill & Scroll national journalism award for writing a newspaper article on fishing, Mr. Precht began writing an outdoor column for the Houston Post, and freelancing for Bassmaster and other magazines, in 1977.

During his career, Precht has covered every Bassmaster Classic since 1978.


After serving as the editor of Southern Outdoors Magazine for four years, Precht replaced Bob Cobb as editor of Bassmaster Magazine in 1984.


During his 19 years as Bassmaster editor, Mr. Precht use the magazine to promote boating safety, youth fishing, conservation, sportfishing ethics and bass fishing as a family activity.  Currently this Precht serves as Editor-in-Chief of Bassmaster as well as senior director, BASS Publications.
